About This Game :-

This Thursday, the San Francisco 49ers will look for their fifth win in five games so far against all foes in the NFC West. The team is ready to face the Seattle Seahawks once again, this time at Lumen Field. If the 49ers can win on Thursday, the team will have swept Seattle in the season series for the first time since 2011.

Just days before the split game, "Thursday Night Football" analyst and former 49ers and Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman spoke to the media to preview the pivotal NFC West matchup between the former All Pro teams. Here's what the NFL alum had to say ahead of the prime time contest.

quarterback Brock Purdy could play his first road game at Lumen Field:

It would be different if he was busking in Detroit or somewhere, but he's busking in Seattle. Both teams are competitive. It will be a very lively atmosphere. I'm sure people will miss work and get sick because the stadium is going to be packed and loud and that's different and more hostile than how he probably played, even in college, so it's going to have an effect on him. . But you know, he's a director. Everyone has to deal with it. And I'm sure you'll find a way to get away with it, but that sounds great. He is making all the offers you expect. He's smarter, athletic is what he's been given, but he's made some really great plays. Everybody says, 'When they put the movie up, they'll be able to stop it,' but it's nothing they're doing that you're going to study the movie and say, 'Hey, that's his weakness, we're going after him. pressure, the guys are hitting him in the face and he's not just running around reading the zone... He's been making really good pitches week in and week out, so if he keeps doing that, it'll be fun to watch.

What has changed since the Week 2 matchup between the Seahawks and 49ers?

"This time it's going to be a lot harder because (Seahawks quarterback) Geno (Smith) was unblocked. And I think that was right after that game… I mean, Geno was in the top five in almost every category. So he (Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll) unlocked it. Speaking of a former 49er, Marquise Goodwin is having a great year. She had a great game, five (receptions) for 95 (yards) I think and a touchdown last game. As well as Tyler (Lockett) and DK (Metcalf). And that pass rush, Nick Bosa, Arik Armstead are back, Drake Jackson is back, they're going to have a shot. Now the San Francisco 49ers interior D line is really in pieces. So there's a chance the Seattle Seahawks could find some sort of medicine for their racing woes. If they can find a way, it won't be easy with Fred Warner and Dre Greenlaw. It's a tall order. There's a reason they're number 1 in running defense.

49ers strength and endurance after suffering injury list:

It's ridiculous because it's almost a given nowadays. You have to expect to have injuries early. The year we went to the Super Bowl when I was there, we lost Joe Staley and Mike McGlinchey nine or ten games on the season. That was crazy, you lose both tackles 9-10 games. You are not expected to do anything that year and we managed to get through that. I think that's what they are for. That's why they have so much talent, you know, so much veteran leadership. The coaching staff knows how to train there. I don't think anyone is willing to lose two starting quarterbacks and still win and be a Super Bowl contender. But you know, if it weren't for Nick Sirianni and the Philadelphia Eagles being 12-1 right now, I think Kyle Shanahan would be named coach of the year for the work that he's doing. Sherman on which 49ers player he thinks deserves his first trip to the 2023 Pro Bowl Games:

"Dre Greenlaw. 'Big Play Dre', for sure. Beyond. He deserves it most of all, he's playing without lights. It is always blacked out. I think he deserves it and he deserves it now. Hope you get it.
