Minnesota vs Syracuse Prediction, pick, Pinstripe Bowl odds, broadcast, live streaming, watch online, tv channel
Both teams have had a strong start to the season and will be looking to start the offseason on a positive note.
Both Minnesota and Syracuse are off to a strong start this season and will look to finish the year strong in the Pinstripe Bowl. Minnesota started the season with four wins before a three-game losing streak in October pushed them back, but the Gophers bounced back to win four of their last five games (the only loss was a 13-10 loss to the 'Iowa) to finish Season 8 - Four. Syracuse was an even better start to the season, starting 6-0 and working their way up to No. 14 in the AP Top 25. Boston College to get to 7-5. Now both teams meet at Yankee Stadium in the 12th Annual Pinstripe Bowl. This will be Syracuse's third appearance in the game, and it's the first time Minnesota has traveled to the Big Apple to participate. Minnesota vs Syracuse: I need to know
Mohamed Ibrahim is on the brink of history: The Minnesota star running back suffered a torn Achilles tendon in the 2021 season opener but returned to the Gophers this season as a sixth-year senior intent on proving that the the injury would not be the end of his career. He succeeded. Ibrahim was once again the focal point of the Gophers offense and enters the final game of his career with 1,594 yards and 19 touchdowns in 11 games. His 144.1 rushing yards per game ranks second nationally. He is also within reach of becoming Minnesota's all-time leader. Darrell Thompson rushed for 4,654 yards from 1986 to 1989, and Ibrahim comes to New York with 4,597 yards to his name, meaning he's only 58 yards away from breaking Thompson's record. He has already surpassed Thompson's record 40 touchdowns; the next rushing touchdown of Ibrahim's career will be his 53rd. Syracuse will be without leading rusher Sean Tucker: Unlike Minnesota, the Orange will be without their offensive workhorse. Sean Tucker posted his second straight 1,000 rushing yards season, finishing with 1,060 rushing yards and 11 rushing touchdowns to complement his 254 receiving yards. The last few seasons have seen Tucker be the rock Syracuse could rely on when other parts of the offense didn't work, but they won't have that rock in New York. Tucker has decided not to prepare for the NFL Draft like a couple of other members of the Syracuse defense. Both teams played well - you can never be sure what to expect from the teams in bowling games, but if history is any indication, both teams will take this game seriously. Minnesota had five straight bowl games, including all three postseason appearances under P.J. stain. Last season, the Gophers beat West Virginia in the Guaranteed Rate Bowl and defeated Auburn in the 2019 Outback Bowl. Meanwhile, Syracuse hasn't bowled as often as Minnesota in recent seasons, but is on a four-hit streak in the bowl, including two victories (2010 and 2012) at the Pinstripe Bowl.
Pinstripe Bowl Prediction, Predictions
foreground game
Minnesota Golden Gopher vs. Syracuse orange
The Golden Gophers are 10-point favorites going into this game due to Syracuse waivers, but while I expect the Gophers to win this game, that spread seems too generous. However, I'm not ready to trust Syracuse in this place. The best game is overall. It's not hard to imagine the Syracuse offense struggling to move the ball without Sean Tucker against a Minnesota defense that has been one of the most reliable units in the country, not just the Big Ten. I see a scenario where Minnesota builds a huge lead, Mohamed Ibrahim sets the all-time rushing record, and P.J. Fleck decides it's time for the substitutes to gain some playing experience before 2023. Prediction: Under 42
