FIFA ranking: South Korea 28, Ghana 61

In the end, Portuguese goalkeeper Diogo Costa nodded and left the stadium. It was a rare reaction for someone who finished the World Cup on a winning side. Ghanaian musician Inaki Williams caused Costa's gloom.

Moments ago, Williams surprised Costa by scoring a goal. Williams was in goal and beat Costa minutes after he put the ball in. Williams' trick caught Portugal by surprise, and in everything he had an empty goal to run into. But that's when his luck turned. He dropped to win the ball and his shot missed the goal.

The game of football is completely dependent on boundaries. Had Williams not left, Ghana would have scored 3-3. Four teams in that group would have made sense. But it happened, because of this, the Black Stars go into their next game with South Korea without a point in the bottom of their group. Too much.

As the bottom team in this tournament, not much was expected from this Ghanaian team. But what they lack in character, they make up for in tenacity. They pushed hard against Portugal and were lucky not to get at least one point. Ghana, led by their tireless captain, AndrĆ© Ayew, showed in their first game that they will not let loose. Ajax's 22-year-old Mohammed Kudus is the X-factor for this Ghana side, and his sudden moves have troubled Portugal.

But questions remain about their defense, which happened in the second half. Portugal's three goals sealed the deal for the evening. Ghana face a team that didn't score a goal in their opening match - but they have the pace to trouble Ghana.

South Korea's goal against Uruguay was the first time both teams failed to score a goal in a World Cup match this century.

Kims' Taeguk Warriors defensive quartet deserves credit for keeping a clean sheet against an attack featuring Darwin Nunez, Luis Suarez, Federico Valverde and Edinson Cavani. Ayew and his team will have their work cut out for them against the South Korean side who have kept their opponents in the last three games and conceded just six goals in their last eight matches. Son Heung-min wore a mask during their match against Uruguay, but the South Korean hero did not have much advantage. Although he is struggling for form this season for Tottenham, he remains the most powerful player in South Korea and has scored four goals in his last seven games for his country. South Korea's pace is their main strength.

It was a tough game for both sides. A win will boost South Korea's chances of qualification and they can go into their final match against Portugal buoyed by the comfort of having four points on the board already.

Ghana will have to avoid defeat to stay in the tournament. They will face Uruguay in a thrilling final group game, in which they will seek revenge for Suarez's penalty kick in the fourth round of the 2010 World Cup.
